There is no good public measure of how commerce is actually distributed — how much flows through how few hands, how much of it is recorded at all, how much value reaches the people who created it. A protocol that records real trade across every role is in an unusual position to answer that.
Not gross volume, which flatters whoever is largest. The interesting numbers are about distribution and access — who participates, how concentrated the flow is, and how much of the value reaches the operator who added it.
An index somebody assembles by choosing what to include is a marketing artifact. Computed from the event log with a published method, it is a measurement that can be argued with — which is what makes it worth publishing.
Any index built from one protocol's data measures that protocol, not the world. Saying so is what separates a measurement from a claim, and the method has to state its own limits alongside its numbers.
The event log that would produce this is live and append-only. The index — its method, its metrics and its publication — is designed and not built, and no numbers are published anywhere yet.
