On a weak signal a phone can wait up to a minute for a page before giving up, on a blank screen. The installed app now answers after 12 seconds with a page that says the connection is slow and keeps trying by itself. A phone that slept through an update could tap into code that no longer existed and simply stop; it now reloads once, on its own, to the current version.
