WHAT AGENTS
COST TO RUN.

Live now

Every agent conversation calls a model provider and that call has a real price. Hiding it inside a subscription means light users subsidise heavy ones by design, so the cost is metered and capped rather than absorbed silently.

The protocol fee does not cover this

Five percent of an order covers running the protocol. Agent usage varies by orders of magnitude between operators, and a variable cost that large does not belong inside a flat percentage without somebody being overcharged.

Budgets, not surprises

Usage is tracked against a per-operator budget and the gate answers before the call is made. An operator finding out they overspent afterwards is the failure mode this exists to prevent.

The floor is the important part

Commerce itself — listing, ordering, settling, being paid — never requires agent spend. Agents enhance the work; if they were required to do it, the metered cost would be a paywall on participation.

Where the cost actually goes

To the model provider. Agent calls run against Anthropic's API and the usage recorded is the usage incurred, not a marked-up unit invented for billing.
